The effect of the Mg/Si ratio Al-2.5Li-1Cu-0.8Mg-0.8Si, Al-2.5Li-1Cu-1.6Mg-0.8Si, and Al-2.5Li-1Cu-2.4Mg-0.8Si alloys on microstructure evolution mechanical properties was investigated. results show that primary phases their morphologies in as-cast are found to vary with ratio. improvement promotes formation Mg2Si phase at expense AlLiSi phase. Moreover, a tiny amount TB-Al7.5Cu4Li transforms into S-Al2CuMg increase Mg content. In addition, also causes Cu-rich intergranular distributed along crystal boundary Si-rich After ageing treatment, precipitation sequence as function is follows: δ/δ′+AlLiSi (Mg/Si ∼1) → δ/δ′+β′-Mg2Si+AlLiSi ∼2) δ/δ′+β′-Mg2Si ∼3). A good combination strength ductility can be obtained alloy after solution ageing. rod-like β′-Mg2Si precipitate has positive influence comprehensive alloy.
